This article from Christianity Today titled “Can Christian Publishing Survive in a Country Where Few Still Read?” addresses the evident concern over Indonesian believers and their relationship with the Bible. Only 1 out of every 1,000 Indonesians is an avid reader but believers are not discouraged by this; rather, they see this as an opportunity for spiritual growth. Casthelia Kartika, president of Amanat Agung Theological Seminary in Jakarta, believes that small group Bible studies can help develop an interest in reading, while other Indonesian pastors use social media to engage fellow believers with reading.

Despite his circumstances, Masih went above and beyond in prison, pursuing academic studies and examinations. His attorney Lazar Allah Rakha said, “His feat in the examination is testament to his unwavering faith in Christ and of his determination to start life afresh when the Lord acquits him from the false conviction.”

David Mathis reminds us that happiness flows from God, and it flows bountifully to His children. He wrote, “Jesus’ opening lines in this sermon call us to acknowledge the depth of our emptiness, recognize the extent of our neediness, and acclaim the fullness of God’s generous provision and contagious happiness.”
