This article from Children Evangelism Fellowship titled “CEF’s Military Children’s Ministry serves an often overlooked segment of America’s military community” lifts up children whose parents are on active military duty. The Military Children’s Ministry understands how a parent’s deployment and absence for months can bring stress to their children, and they designed their ministry to help children overcome this with a foundation of faith. The ministry’s director, Dr. Andy Bunn, shared, “[Children in military families] need stability and assurance that transcends their environment. They need Jesus, as their unchanging firm foundation. We have established ministries on 24 bases in 16 states and the District of Columbia and are aiming to add more in the near future.”

This article from Christian Broadcasting News titled, “Satanist, Wiccan Leader Among Hundred Redeemed Through ‘The Power of Jesus’ This Year in Prisons” highlights a national prison ministry called God Behind Bars that works to restore the lives of inmates during incarceration and after their release. For example, one of their initiatives was PandoApp, an app that provides inmates access to worship music and sermons. Their website states, “We will stop at nothing, ensuring every inmate in the U.S. has direct and personal access to the gospel and spiritual resources to not only help them grow their faith, but heal trauma and wounds, break addictions and cycles, and allow them to step into their calling as sons and daughters of the Most High.”

This article from Baptist Press titled “Nov. 10 a special day to focus on widows, orphans” calls attention to the caring of widows and orphans and specifically, how Southern Baptists seek to bring the Biblical command to action. An organization called Send Relief is working with churches and other non profits to help bring family and community-based care. One of Send Relief’s consultants stated in relation to orphans that “families are vital for the development of children. Organizations are working to strengthen families so they never need to consider an orphanage as a solution to their challenges.”
Although every Hub article is selected to foster discussion about modern church structure, not every idea and opinion expressed in the linked articles may fully align with the views and mission of Koinesúnē Magazine. All the same, we seek to uplift and celebrate the different ministries working around the globe.
