1. DEFINING CHURCH: “Serve in Children’s Ministry. It’s Bigger Than You Think” by Russ Ramsey

This Gospel Coalition article, titled “Serve in Children's Ministry. It's Bigger Than You Think,” highlights the true importance in serving children at your congregation. Ramsey shows that at its core, children’s ministry is a “ministry of hospitality.” It lays the groundwork for how children view church and faith, therefore it is essential.

2. SPOTLIGHT: “Redeemer Church: My Haven After 9/11” by Melanie Penn

This Christianity Today article, titled “Redeemer Church: My Haven After 9/11,” recounts a New Yorker’s faith growing in the fallout of 9/11 and Tim Keller’s contribution to this impact. Melanie Penn recounts Keller’s dedication to ministry in a broken city and his commitment to never “sugar coating” Christianity. Penn says that the best way we can honor Keller’s legacy is to “invite a friend to church.”

3. LESSONS LEARNED: “5 Ways to Overcome Being an Insecure Leader” by Ron Edmondson

This Christian Leaders article, titled “5 Ways to Overcome Being an Insecure Leader,” lists the key steps to becoming a more secure church leader. Emondson expresses the stress of working in leadership and how pastors or other church leaders can easily feel discouraged or insufficient. The greatest ways to conquer this feeling are “avoiding comparison,” “concentrating on your abilities,” “surrounding yourself with people who complement your weaknesses,” “continuing learning” and “finding your identity in what’s really secure.”
